Our mission is to transform the lives of rural, economically disadvantaged, orphaned, semi-orphaned, and migrant children in and around Puttaparthi by providing quality education, essential resources, and holistic development opportunities. We aim to equip these children with the necessary skills and knowledge to become self-reliant, responsible, and contributing members of society.
Our vision is to create an inclusive and empowered community where every child, regardless of their socioeconomic background, has access to quality education and the opportunity to realize their full potential. We strive to foster an environment that emphasizes language and literacy development, ensuring that all children can lead dignified, prosperous, and fulfilling lives.
Sri Sathya Sai district faces significant challenges, including frequent droughts and inadequate rainfall. These conditions, coupled with limited employment opportunities, leave residents struggling to earn a basic income. Consequently, many villagers are forced to migrate to cities in search of work and a better life. The lack of financial stability has also led to a low literacy rate in rural areas, with 30-40% of children either remaining uneducated or dropping out of school by the 4th or 5th grade. This educational gap isolates them from mainstream society, leaving them unemployed and leading to a poor quality of life.
This is where, Sri Sai Balaji Child Welfare & Education Society steps in to address the challenges faced by rural, economically disadvantaged, orphaned, semi-orphaned, and migrant children in and around Puttaparthi Mandal located in Sri Sathya Sai District. We believe that education is the most effective solution for improving their situation and fostering self-reliance. With a strong emphasis on language, literacy and skill development, our vision is to empower these children to reach their full potential. This is achieved by providing quality education and essential needs such as food, drinking water, sanitation and medical and dental care.
Initially, our school started out with Velichamala Noorjahan, the secretary of the society and Headmaster by teaching a few students at her home, but the space quickly became too small to accommodate them all. In 2006, the school expanded into four small houses in Puttaparthi, serving 65 children. By 2009, the school had grown into a primary school with seven classes in a new building, providing free education to 150 students. In 2014, with the addition of a secondary school for grades 8, 9, and 10, the school expanded again by constructing new classrooms on top of the existing building. Currently the school enrolls almost 200 students every academic year.
At Sri Sai Balaji Child Welfare & Education Society, we are committed to addressing the challenges faced by rural, economically disadvantaged, orphaned, semi-orphaned, and migrant children in and around Puttaparthi Mandal. We focus on providing education as the key to improving their situation and fostering self-reliance. Our aim is to empower these children to reach their full potential through language, literacy and skill development, helping them break the cycle of poverty and build a brighter future.
Access to Education: Our school ensures that every child in the community has access to free and quality education, irrespective of their socio-economic background. The success stories of our alumni, many of whom have pursued higher education and become successful professionals, stand as a testament to the school's impact in breaking the cycle of poverty and paving the way for a brighter future
Skill Development: In addition to academic education, we focus on skill development to equip children with practical skills that enhance their employability and socio-economic prospects. Vocational training sessions, such as computer literacy and tailoring, are part of our program.
Nutritional Support:Recognizing the importance of nutrition in a child’s development, we have implemented a mid-day meals program. This initiative addresses malnutrition by providing children with nutritious meals during school hours, improving their health and well-being. Further to instill the students with nurturing and sustainability skills, A significant part of the vegetables are grown in the vegetable garden on the roof of the school building.
Health Care:We ensure that children have easy and quick access to healthcare through regular dental and health check-up camps.
